Dear Students,
What a historic week for the University of Florida and a major milestone in our fight against coronavirus!
In the first days of a major effort to vaccinate 20,000 people in Alachua County per week for six weeks, more than 15,000 University of Florida students and Alachua County residents received a dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
Getting the vaccine is a crucial step in ending the pandemic and keeping our community safe.
Students who have been fully vaccinated or who are 14 days from their first dose of the vaccine will not be included in the routine testing plans for future semesters. Additionally, vaccinated students will no longer need to quarantine if they are a close contact of someone with COVID.
If you have received at least one vaccine dose or are fully vaccinated, please submit your vaccine card so we can remove you from our Routine Testing Plans.
This week, we also celebrated our incredible graduate students as part of Graduate Student Appreciation Week. Our graduate students are a vital and valued part of our university community, whose ideas, research, and efforts make UF more vibrant place.
To our Graduate Assistants, in particular, your work is essential to this university and to our faculty and staff. You build bridges across disciplines, expand educational connections and mirror possibilities for others. Thank you for your scholarship, leadership, service, and commitment. You truly reflect both the present and future of the profession.
Have a restful and relaxing weekend!
Be safe and be well, Gators.
