October 16, 2020

Dear Students,

We are now less three weeks from the national election (November 3)!

Election season is always an exciting time for our country. It is a time to exercise your citizenship in our democracy, by taking an active and vital role in your community through casting your vote.

I want you to know that your voice matters.

For many of you, this may be your first presidential election where you can participate. I encourage you to do your research and plan how and when you will vote.

UF’s Bob Graham Center for Public Service is a tremendous resource for students, hosting regular dialogues, events, and engagement opportunities.
One such opportunity will take place next week. On Thursday, Oct. 22 from 5-6 p.m., you are invited to join Secretary of State Laurel M. Lee to hear how Florida has prepared for the 2020 elections. Find out what you need to do to be ready to cast your ballot.

Early voting in Alachua County will begin on Monday, Oct. 19 and run through Oct. 31. The Reitz Union is a designated early voting location.
I also want to recognize that although election season can be energizing, it can also create a lot of campaign fatigue and feelings of anxiety due to uncertainty. Please know if you need additional support, want to talk with someone or want to build skills in how to manage stress, staff at GatorWell Health Promotion Services and the Counseling & Wellness Center are available.

Hope you have a wonderful and restful weekend.

Be safe, be well, and as always – Go Gators!
Dr. D’Andra Mull
Vice President for Student Affairs
