The Great Gator Welcome is UF’s official kickoff to your time at UF this series of events is designed to help you find your place in the Gator Nation. From outdoor markets to live music, trivia nights to campus-wide races, there’s something for every student to discover, connect and make memories that last.

What to Expect
Every semester, thousands of Gators come together! Whether you’re brand new to campus or just want to connect, the Great Gator Welcome is where it begins. Past events have featured:
First Day Photos
Kick off the semester with a free Polaroid photo at iconic campus locations. A beloved tradition for new and returning Gators alike.
Games & Competition
Put your skills to the test with music trivia nights, campus-wide scavenger hunts and races, bingo, and more. Compete solo or gather a crew. Prizes, bragging rights and good times are always on the line.
Student Organization Fair
One of the best ways to get plugged in at UF. Connect with leaders from over 300 student organizations and campus departments all in one place.
Markets & Festivals
Browse local and student-owned vendors, enjoy carnival-style activities, grab food and soak up the energy of campus at its most vibrant.
Convocation
Freshman Convocation is a special tradition that marks the official start of your college journey. It’s a time to come together with your class, hear from campus leaders, and celebrate the beginning of this exciting new chapter!
Class Photo
Once Convocation wraps up, make your way to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium to take part in the Class of 2030 photo! It’s a memorable tradition you won’t want to miss as you officially kick off your time at UF.
Live Music & Concerts
From intimate sets on the lawn featuring local Gainesville artists to large-scale Student Government Productions shows with national headliners, there’s always a reason to stop, stay and enjoy the show.
GatorNights
GatorNights is the University of Florida’s premier late-night event series held on Fridays at the Reitz Union, offering free entertainment like movies, live performances, crafts, games, and food to create a vibrant and safe social space for students.
