Lauren Urra is a first-year student at the University of Florida from Miami, Florida. She majors in information systems at the Warrington College of Business.
We asked her about her experience at UF, her perfect day on campus and her advice for students deciding where to go to college.
Q: Why did you decide to come to UF?
A: I just thought it was the perfect balance of a good education and the best value for my money. I felt like UF was the best school for me, and it ended up giving me the most financial aid, so that really worked out perfectly.
Could you describe what a perfect day on campus might look like for you?
My perfect day on campus is a beautiful sunny day, getting to set up my hammock here at the Plaza of the Americas, chilling out at the library and then having dinner with friends.
I also live by the stadium, so it’s my go-to workout spot and I just absolutely love going to work out there.
Do you have any advice for high school students deciding where to go to college?
No matter the options you’ve been given, you’ll end up where you’re meant to be. I wish someone had said that to me.
What makes you feel like you made the right choice?
I’ve just had a great experience so far. Even with COVID-19, I’ve had a great experience – the staff that I’ve interacted with and the people I’ve met have just been great overall.
